In Loving Memory of Anna Mae Edwards

Anna Mae Edwards, 75, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on August 19, 2026, surrounded by love and the family who meant so much to her.

Born on January 28, 1951, Anna Mae (aka Sue) was the daughter of the late Georgiana Simon-Ledet and Harrison Ledet Sr. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Edwards and her grandson, Aaron D. Balfour.

Anna Mae lived a life centered around the things she loved most: family, faith, friendship, community, and enjoying life.
A devoted Catholic, Anna Mae’s faith was an important part of her life. She served as an usher in her church and valued the traditions, fellowship, and spiritual foundation of her Catholic faith. But anyone who truly knew Anna Mae (aka Sue) knew there was much more to her. She loved people.

Anna Mae enjoyed socializing, spending time with family and friends, sharing conversation, laughing, gathering together, and simply enjoying life. She had a genuine love for being around the people she cared about and formed many friendships throughout the years.

She was also tremendously proud of Lake Charles. It was not simply where Sue lived—it was her home. She loved her city, her community, its people, and the familiar connections that come from spending a lifetime in a place that becomes part of who you are. She was known and loved by many throughout the community. Above all, Anna Mae was a family woman.

Her family was the heartbeat of her life. She loved her children deeply and took great joy in watching her family grow through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and the many people who became family through the years.

Anna Mae was the proud mother of six children: Rachel Williams-Dawkins; Lisa Williams-Balfour; Ernest Williams Jr. and his wife, Jacqueline Williams; and Eli P. Williams Sr.; Matilia A. Williams-Hall and Mary V. McKinney.

Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: April R. Williams, Shanell Dawkins, Warren A. Davis, Anthony J. Balfour, Aaron D. Balfour, Chauncey L. Walker, Janae A. Williams, Emanuel Williams, Elasha R. Williams, Jelia A. Williams, Isaiah P. Williams, Eli P. Williams Jr., Nikyla N. Young, Nicholas D. Williams, Andrew D. Rocha and Kyla Rocha.

She was blessed to see her family continue into another generation through her great-grandchildren:
Aiyana D. Fortune, Jeremiah T. Savage, Asyia M. Williams, Adonis G. Williams, Alicia Davis, Aliyah Davis ,Darius Davis, Maela Young, Bailee Balfour, Brentlee Balfour, Ryssa Balfour, Issac Balfour ,Syrindie Balfour, Falyzidie Balfour, Zi’aylah Denise Rocha Hollaway and Azariah Lanae Rocha Hollaway

Anna Mae is also survived by her loving sisters Annie Jean Ledet Alfred, Lorita Ledet Jean-Baptist, Renella Ledet Faulk, Theresa Ledet Jones, Shirley Ledet Noel, and Joseph Pete Ledet as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends, church family, and members of the Lake Charles community who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Georgiana Simon-Ledet and Harrison Ledet Sr.; her husband, Albert Edwards; and her siblings Aston Ledet, Joseph Charles Ledet, Joseph Carl Ledet, Della Arceneaux, Joseph Clifton Ledet, Mary Alice Ledet, Ramsey Ledet, Joseph Clausey Ledet, Jesse James Ledet, Barbara Ann Ledet, Harrison Leroy Ledet, Jr. and George Ledet.

Anna Mae did not live her life trying to be remembered as perfect. She lived it fully. Her children will remember their mother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will carry forward the stories, traditions, laughter, and lessons she leaves behind. Her siblings and extended family will remember a lifetime of shared history.

And through it all, her family finds comfort in the faith that her passing was part of her journey, when her earthly journey came to an end, she was surrounded by love.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
