Obituary

Aubrey Lewis Gilmore was born on December 22, 1948 in Longview, Texas to the late Kerman D. Gilmore and Amy L. Mapps.

He moved to Lake Charles, LA where he was raised by his mother Amy and stepfather James Lawson. He went on to attend W.O. Boston High School.

In 1977,  Aubrey relocated to Miami, Florida and began working in the Rental Car Industry. In 1998,  Aubrey made the decision to move back to his childhood home in Lake Charles, La to be near his family. He worked over 15 years within the casinos of Isle Capri, Lauberge, and Golden Nugget.

He enjoyed his jobs and never met a stranger. Being in his presence was always a joyous experience. His radiant smile and hilarious stories drew people to him. He loved his family, watching his favorite teams play The Miami Dolphins and The Miami Heat.

He was well known for his well pressed, impeccable fashion and his broad collection of colognes. Anyone who knew Aubrey knew he had a good story to tell. He was a proud dedicated father, grandfather, and brother who was always there for his children and family. He was the "REAL O.G." one that will be extremely missed.

In 2019,  Aubrey was diagnosed with gastric cancer. After months of treatment he received another diagnosis of liver cancer. He decided after months and months of on going treatment he no longer wanted to continue with treatments. He fought a good fight and finished his race. He is now in a better place.

Aubrey proceeds in death by his father Kerman Gilmore, his mother Amy Mapps, his stepfather James "Poe" Lawson, his daughter Pamela Harris, two brothers Byron (Marilyn) Lawson, Edgar C. Lawson Sr., his two sister Phyllis A. Lawson, Jacqueline "Jackie" Gilmore.

Aubrey leaves to cherish the memories of his wife Brenda Gilmore, his children; Mark (Donna) Lamb, Aubrey (Taiwo) Gilmore Jr., Phillip Gilmore, Jenetta Gilmore, Kenyetta Gilmore, Walter Gilmore, bonus children Jemeka Smoak and William Carswell. His siblings Rodney (Ruby Nell) Lawson, Ursula Lawson, Paulella Lawson, Myra Lawson, and Sylvia (Robert) Lawson-Landry. Aunt Mildred Lawson.
