IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda Alcene
Orphey
October 29, 1955 – October 6, 2024
Our beloved Brenda Alcene Orphey got her wings on October 6, 2024. She was 68. She was born on October 29, 1955, to Reverend F.S. Diggs and Gertrude Poochie.
Brenda was a native of Lake Charles, LA. She was a dedicated Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church member, pastored by Rev Hearnest Arvie. Brenda's commitment to the church was evident in the many roles she served in, locally and nationally, including Youth Director, Mission Director, and City-Wide Youth Coordinator. She also served on the state level.
After retiring from her role as an educator and cheer sponsor for the Calcasieu Parish School Board, she relocated to Texas, where she continued her church service at the Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Missouri City, Texas, pastored by Rev. Dr. Richard Jewel Rose. Brenda was a member of the choir, leader of the Women's Ministry Auxiliary, and a member of the Holy Trinity Saints. Her dedication to the Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church and Holy Trinity Baptist Church was not just a part of her life, it was her life. It was unwavering and steadfast, a testament to her commitment and faith.
Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Known for her dedication to church, family, and friends, she often went out of her way to help when needed, even if it meant she had to go without. On top of being an educator for almost 20 years, she was also a seamstress, and wedding coordinator, both of which allowed her to leave a lasting impact in the lives of many people. Brenda's life was a testament to the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others. She led a life of service. Service to her husband, Service to her kids, Service to her job, Service to her church family, and most of all, Service to God.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Poochie Francis; her father, Rev. F.S. Diggs; her Grandson, Zaccheus Samuels; her Great-Granddaughter, Paisley Harrison; and her best friend and Aunt, Amander Arvie.
She is survived by her husband, Herman Orphey Sr; three children, Latavia (Terry) Senegal, Herman Orphey Jr, and Nathaniel (Cloenthia) Orphey Sr. Eleven grandchildren, Jazlin (Brittany) Williams, Jametria (Charles) Hollins, Justice Hudson, Sonterra Orphey, Herman Orphey III, Hendrix Orphey, Heiress Orphey, Caliyah Orphey, Nathaniel Orphey Jr, Niko Orphey and Noah Orphey. Eight great-grandchildren, Damar Francois, Ry'Leigh Hudson, Kaiden Hudson, Willie Nash Jr, Gianna Nash, Avalynn Orphey, Jace Orphey, and one on the way; and a host of aunts, uncles, stepsisters, stepbrothers, and close friends.
