On July 18, 1934, Tom and Francis Mitchell welcomed their 8th child, a baby girl and named her Candis Mitchell. Our beloved angel experienced fulfillment of God's promises and celebrated her freedom as she entered into eternal rest with the lord on January 31, 2024.

Candis accepted Christ at an early age through baptism and was raised up as a child to always follow God. She remained faithful to God and made sure to do the same in raising her family. She served as secretary and treasurer at Old Emmanuel Baptist Church. Candis later joined her husband as a member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful servant until her health kept her away.

On June 21, 1952 Candis united in holy matrimony with her loving husband Joseph Cains . To this union they were blessed with 2 wonderful children –Mary Ann Moore (Ricky) and Joseph Cains Jr. (Regina).

As a child, Candis grew up farming with her family, working in the laundry industry. She later found her passion as a hair stylist where she went on to own her own shop and serve many in her community. Candis enjoyed sewing, shopping, serving her church and  spending time with her family.

Candis leaves in God's care, her son – Joseph Jr., 5 grandchildren – Darrel "Tre", Genella, Natasha, Joseph III(Kendra) and Ricky Jr.; 11 great grandchildren DeAndrea, DaiZiah, Cieara, Craig Jr., Keitric, Mariah, Kennade, Kamryn, Caliyah, Meijah, Macieand 3 great great grandchildren – Kynslei, K'Lani and Caleigh, 5 surviving siblings JC, Peter, Joshua, Abbie, Floyd and host of loving family members and friends.
