Cheryl Lynn Hester was the last blessing born to the late Redella Mary Gallow Ned and to the late Phillip Ned Sr. in Lake Charles, La. on June 20, 1965, although any time you saw her, it was her birthday.
Cheryl accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church of Lake Charles, La. She was nurtured by the public school system here in Lake Charles, La., and held records in basketball and track at Barbe High School. Cheryl also worked as a cook at Holly Hill of Sulphur, La. and Rest Haven of Lake Charles, La.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed going on trail rides, and dancing (famous for doing the "Tootsie Roll" backward and dropping it like it's hot). Cheryl was the life of any party that she attended. She would talk noise and be known for backing it up if she had to. She often played games on her cell phone, and enjoyed her AA batteries as well as late nights and early mornings.
On February 20, 2023, Cheryl answered the divine call from labor to reward. She will always be remembered for her hustle and taking on projects inside and outside of the house that no one else would want to do, just have her $20 before, during, and after she finishes. Cheryl will be remembered for the care and nurture that she provided to all that she came in contact with, whether you got cursed out or not and she will be remembered for putting her foot in whatever she cooked.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother Redella Mary Gallow Ned, her father Phillip Ned Sr., and her brother Phillip Ned Jr.
Her beautiful life will be forever cherished by survivors: Her loving son, Van Hester Jr. (Jonnique) of Westlake, La., her loving daughter, Crystal Hester Sr. (Jeremy) of Lake Charles, La. and a special son, Marvin Lewis of Lake Charles, La. Her siblings, Gary Ned of Lake Charles, La., Darlene Guy (Jason) of Carlyss, La., Jackie Watley (Ralph) of Lake Charles, La., and Brian Ned of Lake Charles, La. Her loving grandchildren, DeMontae, Syrin, Adrent, Crystal Jr., Van III, Mya, and Marvin. Her godson, Valon Hester, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
