IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christopher Thomas
22
December 28, 2021
C
On the early morning of December 28, 2021, Chris was shot at his home on Cline
Street. He passed away as a result of his injuries at a local hospital. Chris was 22
years young.
Christopher Thomas was born in the city of Lake Charles, LA on March 28, 1999.
He was the first born and only son of Tonya Thomas and Wilford James Henderson, Jr.
Chris was a graduate of LaGrange High School Class of 2018. He was an employee
of Checkers. Chris loved playing basketball, football, and his PlayStation with his
family and friends. During the holidays family UNO was his go to game. Chris was
the sweetest child, with a heart of gold. Always eager to help wherever and whenever he
could. He loved animals, especially dogs, (always the only one able to find and
return the neighbor's dog). Chris was a protector of the innocent (KIDS, BABIES),
his nephews and little cousins. The kids were drawn to Chris's caring and comforting
spirit. He was so excited and proud of himself when he was offered his very first job
working as an overnight stocker at Walmart in Spring, Texas. He never missed a
day. Chris belonged to the group Young Men in Transition mentored by Wanda
Ramirez. Although he struggled with mental illness, trying to belong, trying to fit
in, trying to find his purpose, his heart's desire was not to be MISUNDERSTOOD.
Chris is preceded in death by his grandmother, Geraldine Thomas; great grand-
mothers, Rachel Williams and Louise Lebine; great grandfather, John L. Williams;
great aunt, Wanda Thomas; cousin and godmother, Shunna Thomas, and cousin,
Richard Thomas.
Chris is survived by his four year old son, Bentley Thomas; his 10 month old son,
JoaQuinn Ruben; mother, Tonya Renee Thomas; father, Wilford James Henderson;
maternal sisters, Tyreonna and Raven Thomas; Fraternal siblings, Ke'Asha Dean
Humphrey; Bethanie Harris, Destiny Dagile, Addison James Henderson and JaLandon
Henderson; grandfather, Wilford Henderson, Sr. and grandmother, Eletha Henderson.
