David Thomas Blackburn was born December 5, 1956, and passed into the loving arms of our Father February 2. 2024.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Jeanette McMahon Blackburn, father, Frank Colbert Blackburn, sister-in-law Faith Marie Holleman Blackburn, uncle, David R. McMahon, and brother-in-law John Mayfield.
David is survived by his brother Frank Collin Blackburn and wife Michelle with granddaughter Salem Behr, sisters, Melissa Blackburn Sarat and husband Frank, and Mary Blackburn Taylor and husband Jim, aunt, Mary McMahon, nieces, Allison Blackburn with son Jaylen, Evangeline Sarat with daughter Yheva and son Paul, and Leah Sarat and son Callum, and nephews, Chris Blackburn and wife Lacey with daughter Addison and sons Brayden and Owen, Pete and Laurie Taylor, Josh and Michelle Taylor with daughter Ava and sons Jimmy and Jacob, and Jeremiah and Evelyn Taylor with son Finnian.
David was a journeyman welder with UA Local 198 of Baton Rouge, traveling extensively throughout the United States. He was immensely proud to have helped construct some of the largest petrochemical, refining, nuclear and semiconductor complexes in this country. David dearly loved his pets, taking them with him wherever he traveled.
In his retire years David enjoyed his Louisiana roots, fishing, crabbing, and gardening, and helping others wherever he was able. He was one heck of a cook with boiled crabs and stew being his favorites. In his travels David experienced our great nation and its fruits in ways most never do.
David's final arrangements are being handled by Fondel Memorial of Lake Charles. Our gratitude goes out to Raymond Fondel for all is assistance. David's life will be celebrated in a private family ceremony. For those who wish, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana.
We love you David. You are and will continue to be missed by many.
