Obituary

Delores Mary Johnson Simien, 80 years old, was born on March 26, 1945, in Lafayette, Louisiana to parents Wilmer and Eunice Mouton Johnson. She entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:38 PM. She spent most of her childhood and adult life in Lake Charles, LA, with a brief stay in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, just after high school.

Delores was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She married the love of her life, Louis J. Simien, on 4/13/1971. They shared over 60 years of love and life together.

She attended W.O. Boston High School where she was a majorette and stellar student. After graduating from cosmetology school, she honed her cosmetology skills for a short period before embarking on her lifelong profession. She spent over 50 years as the Chief Financial Officer and Operations Manager of Louis's Bug Shop, the automotive repair and maintenance business that she and her husband started and owned together. Louis and Delores enjoyed giving back through the sponsorship and community service aspects of their philanthropic endeavors. The church, their championship bowling teams, providing holiday meals, as well as angel tree contributions served as highlights in their lives.

She and her husband profoundly impacted and positively influenced the lives of many families, friends, and strangers alike. She was a strict disciplinarian but also had a heart of pure gold. Stern, but always loving.

Spending time with family made her extremely happy. Every holiday or celebration brought her immense joy. The preparation and cooking with her husband were highlights of the season. In addition, everyone who knew her knew she loved going to the casino. It was a hobby that allowed her to visit with family and friends, observe beautiful decorations, and simply pass time.

Mrs. Simien was the second of six children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Eunice Mouton Johnson; her in-laws, Anastor, Elyia, Joseph, Anthony, Herbert, and Mary Ann Simien, Cecilia Pitre, and Margaret Caesar, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Louis J. Simien; one son Tommie Gray, Jr.; two daughters,  Denise Gray Rougeau and Antoinette (Charles) Simien René; two brothers Wilmer Johnson, Jr. and Charles Johnson; three sisters, Clara Castille, Rosie (Walton) Anderson, and Yvonne Adams; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Simien and Barbara Simien; 21 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her beloved pride, joy, and overwhelming passion were all the children in the family. More than a title, she was a true matriarch, a haven for the motherless and a beloved bonus second mother to some. Her maternal embrace extended far beyond her biological children. The work she has done speaks for her. Without a doubt her feisty, fiery spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
