Obituary

Dorothy Jean Captain Jackson was born October 30, 1942, to the late proud parents of Samuel Captain and Lena H. Jones in Port Arthur, Texas. She began traveling the world early, which she enjoyed until making Lake Charles, Louisiana her home. She quietly departed this life on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. At an early age, Dorothy professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined St. Paul Baptist Church Moorehead Public School in Kinder, LA under her late grandfather Rev. Homer B. Captain.

Dorothy was united in Holy matrimony to the late Author Lee Jackson, Sr in 1957. She was blessed with 5 children. She served faithfully to her family as a devoted homemaker. She loved cooking 3 meals a day and making treats for her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Homer B.Captain (Ludella Cole) and her maternal grandparents Willie Hawkins (Ophelia). Her loving parents Samuel Captain and Lena H. Jones and her daughters Easter Jackson, Cynthia Jackson, and Lena Jackson with a host of Aunts and Uncles.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her loving children her son Author Jackson, Jr (Lake Charles, LA), and her daughter Henrietta J. Henny (Leo Henny, Jr.) of Lake Charles, LA. 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. A host of cousins, and friends. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many.
