God showered His wonderful Blessing upon Mable Skinner Green on September 3, 1954, with the birth of their beautiful baby girl in Ville Platte, LA, and the name Emily Jane Green was given to her. Emily was the 16th child of 19 children and was fondly called, "Cha'Chaut" by all. Emily accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Ville Platte, LA under the leadership of the late Pastor Morrell Lafleur. As a young adult, Emily relocated to Houston, TX where she met and married the love of her life, Reverend JT Collins on April 4, 1975, and to this union, six children were born. Emily was a very proud domestic engineer who took pride in raising her children. Her family was her life, and she was the centerpiece and guiding light for her family.
While in Houston, Emily and her family attended Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor O. Wilson, where she served as a devoted Deaconess and teacher. In 1991, Emily and her family relocated to Lake Charles, LA. She and her family attended Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Lannis Joseph. Emily was obedient to God and lived her life as so by being an exemplary leader over the women's ministry and deaconess. She served in the food pantry, taught outreach classes, and visited the sick in nursing homes and hospitals for prayer and inspiration. Emily and her husband affectionately shared God's word and often opened their home for bible study to anyone. Emily was a true pillar of God and was honored as elected Mission President during her membership at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Also, later went back to school and
obtained her high school diploma.
Emily, 68, was an adoring wife, a loving mother, and a gentle grandmother and great-grandmother. She gave unconditional love and endless support to every member of her family. Emily had a heart of gold. Her selfless love and kindness extended to many others. Foremost, Emily loved and trusted the Lord with every fiber of her soul until God called her to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in the comfort of her home and in the care of her devoted husband. Her faith in God was incomparable and she found comfort in clinging to God's unchanging promises, believing in God's unwavering grace and mercy for everyone. Emily left behind a prime legacy to carry on her admirable illustration of Christianity.
Emily was preceded in death by one son, JT Collins, Jr.; parents, John Green and Mable Green Doucet; five sisters, Martha Mae Brown, Beanna Bryant, Rose Mary Chapman, Mary Green, and Elnora Plumber; eight brothers, Pastor Arthur Cullivan, Adam Frank, Alton Frank, Alfred Green, Joe Green, Melvin Green, Roy Green, and Wilbert Green; maternal grandparents, TeJean and Louis Arvie Skinner; paternal grandparents, Paul and Eva Green; father and mother-in-law, George (Verna B.)
