IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georgia Lenelle
Stenson
February 27, 1973 – March 7, 2024
These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye may have peace. In the world ye shall have
tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
Georgia Lenelle Stenson, 51, was born to her loving parents, George and Martha Stenson on February 27, 1973, in Kinder, La.
As the third of five siblings, Georgia enjoyed a loving, praying, fun-filled home with her parents in Elton, La. In addition to frequent laughter and horseplay within the home, vacations, family time and the occasional crawfishing trips paled in comparison to the in-home nightly bible study and prayer times. Georgia was a lifelong member of Grays Temple COGIC, Oberlin, La., under the leadership of Supt. James Roland, Sr. In later years leadership was under Supt. Maurice Johnson. Church attendance was of utmost importance in the Stenson home.
"Daddy's little girl", as Georgia liked to refer to herself, was reared in love and the fear of God.
Academically Georgia excelled while attending school in Elton, La. She played basketball, ran track and was a member of several clubs and organizations. She graduated with honors as a member of the Class of 1991 from Elton High School. She then attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Lafayette, La. While there she pledged Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She received her bachelor's degree in health management. Georgia was a kind, soft spoken person. After graduation Georgia secured employment in her field of studies. She worked in both the office and from home. She held many positions throughout the years. During a brief hiatus from medical office work, Georgia worked in a youth home after moving to Rolette, Tx. Her love and patience made a good combination which oftentimes resulted in a positive outcome for the youth.
Georgia was a vivacious, quirky young lady. In her younger years she adhered to a self-imposed bedtime of 10pm. She, under no circumstances under her control, would allow herself to stay awake past 10pm on any given school night. Georgia has been known to literally run through the house to jump into bed because it was 9:59pm. She utterly refused to miss curfew.
Georgia was an impeccable housekeeper. But her cooking skills fell short. Her method of cooking was turning the fire up as high as possible to speed up the cooking process. The end result was not always as desired.
She had a genuine love for both young people and the elderly. She mapped out special times for each of her nieces and nephews. As Georgia never met a camera she didn't like, she made certain to photograph and video her nieces and nephews quite often. She captured times that
could never be forgotten.
She spoiled each of them in a special way. She was the go-to, say yes auntie. She will forever hold a special place in each of their hearts.
Georgia carved out time to be of assistance to the elderly as well. She tutored an elderly auntie as she went back to school for her diploma late in life.
She had a special love in her heart for her fur baby, Sweet Pea, whom she treated as though it was her child.
In her downtime, Georgia was a talented artist. Through great drawings she expressed herself. She enjoyed gardening and cooking—although not well. She took pleasure in shopping, traveling and good music. She was organized in all she did. Georgia left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
Georgia passed on in the early morning hours of March 7, 2024.
She was proceeded in death by her grandparents; Lester and Annie Mae Stenson, her maternal grandmother, Edith Gray; her mother, Martha Stenson; one brother, Kevin Stenson, her godfather, Austin Melancon.
Georgia Lenelle Stenson leaves to cherish her memories, her father, Elder George Stenson (Maudrey); one brother, Orentel Stenson (Shelia); two sisters, Valencia Stenson Milton (Charles), Nancy Stenson; her nieces, Latricia, Montana (goddaughter), Quincey and Delilah; her nephews, Willie, OJ , O'neal, Darius, Delano, George, De'Vontae, Demarie, Josiah and Kaden; and her godmother, Janice Lee. A host of family and friends are left to remember her memories fondly.
For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: Whether
we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
