Helen Odessa Johnson Reed born March 20, 1932 to Edward and Gertrude Smith Johnson. She was baptized at an early age under the leadership of Rev Sam A Crowder at the Chimneyville Baptist Church in Garland Louisiana. She later moved to Lake Charles and became a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, under the leader ship of Rev R L White. She remained  there for over 60 years. She was active in the Mission Vacation Bible School Women's D nursing home and home visitation she later united with New Covenant Faith Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Jimmy R Stevens, there she remained a faithful member until her passing.

She leaves the cherish memories of her five children Cheryl, Reed of Carencro LA, Carolyn, Webb ( Roosevelt Webb Linda Ellis (Dwayne Ellis)Floyd Reed (Dina Grice) Kevin Reed) (Darnella Reed ) 7grandchildren. 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great children. 4 God children Rose kitchen Sandra Stoner, Barbara Adams and Anedria Fontenot , a very special cousin Odessa Wilson and her prayer partner Mrs. May D Blaney also to cherish her memory, are two sisters, Gloria Adams and Clara, Charles of Houston, Texas two sister-in-law's along with a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwards and Gertrude Johnson, her husband, Joseph, Reed, Sr and son Joseph Reed Jr.
