Lanny Joseph Roy III (60) of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on January 15, 2024 in Houston, TX.  A wake will be held on Friday, Jan 26, 2024, at Fondel Memorial Chapel from 5 – 8 p.m. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan 27, 2024 from 9-11 am and a funeral service at 11:00 am at New Covenant of Faith Baptist Church.

Lanny was born in Lake Charles, LA on September 16th, 1963 to Ella Jean Valerie and Albert Lanny Roy, Jr. Lanny graduated from Marion High School in 1982 and went on to pursue a degree in business at McNeese State University. Lanny attended McNeese for 3 years and opted out of attending his senior year because he was selected as a candidate in a management program for Delchamps Supermarkets. Lanny would continue to use his management skills for the next 20 years working for Delchamps, Walmart, Service Merchandise, and Magnolia Liquor. Lanny worked in the service industry as a diligent, hardworking manager until he became disabled in 2005.

In 2005 Lanny was displaced due to Hurricane Rita. He was relocated to Houston, TX where he would live out the remainder of his life. Lanny always anticipated returning to his beloved Lake Charles, the place he loved to call home.

Lanny was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alex and Annie Valerie; fraternal grandparents, Albert Lanny Roy Sr. and Julia M. Roy. Parents Ella Jean Roy, and Albert Lanny Roy, Jr; aunt/mom Hilda Slater, nephew William Trey Ross IV.

He leaves to cherish his memories, daughters Tiffany Rigmaiden of Lake Charles, Laken Heckard of Dallas TX, bonus daughter Marissa Heckard of Dallas, TX. Siblings Judy(Khankilis) Jackson of Katy, TX, Mark(Monica) Roy of Texas City TX, Mary "Jackie" Broussard of Houston TX, Regina Ryan of Houston, TX, Rachel(Andre') Roy-Ceasar of Sugar Land, TX and Roxanne Wilkins of Houston, TX. Adopted siblings, Patrick Perry of Baton Rouge, LA, Tanisha(Sam) Freeman of Dallas, TX, Konisha(Chad) Robinson of Lake Charles, LA, and Alvin Perry of Baton Rouge, LA. Cousins/siblings Brenda Davis of Missouri City, TX and Michael (Clarissa) Minix of New Orleans, LA. Grandchildren, Jamaine and Jayden Rigmaiden of Lake Charles, LA and Kentson Paddio of Dallas, TX.
