Lorraine Doucett Philip, 71, a Lake Charles native, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Lorraine was born January 8, 1953, to the late Oliver Doucett and Aurelia Moss Doucett.

Lorraine was a graduate of Washington High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana and received a Bachelor and Master Degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. She was a member of New Covenant Faith Baptist Church of Lake Charles.

Lorraine remained in Houston after college and began her lifelong career as a Home Health Provider for over 30 years lovingly providing care for clients as a live-in companion. She continued to serve in this role, transferring back home to Lake Charles to care for her sister, the late Caroline Doucett after officially retiring in 2015.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Aurelia Doucett, two sisters and three brothers. Gone but not forgotten, she leaves many wonderful memories, one sister, Brenda Brumfield of Houston, TX, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at New Covenant Faith Baptist Church, 2223 12th St., Lake Charles, La. Viewing begins at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Hi Mount Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
