Funeral service for Raymond M. Fondel, Sr., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 300 North Blake Street, Lake Charles, La., with a visitation at 9 a.m. until time of service. A wake will be held at Fondel Memorial Church Chapel, 832 North Lyons Street, on Friday, June 14, 2013, from 3 to 9 p.m.

Raymond Marvin Fondel, Sr., 72, was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles, a graduate of W.O. Boston in 1960 and Commonwealth College of Science in 1962. He was an established Funeral Director and Mortician, who later established Fondel's Ambulance Service in 1965. He was a well known businessman in the community that was respected by many and devoted to "Helping Others."

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving, caring wife of 49 years, Esther Mae M. Fondel; two sons, Raymond M. (Juanita) Fondel, Jr., of Lake Charles, La., and Paul Leonard Fondel, of Houston, Texas; son-in-law, Antonio Smith of Monroe, La.; two brothers, the Rev. Franklin E. (Stella) Fondel, Sr., and George Fondel; one sister, Mary Ellen (Antoine) Semien, all of Lake Charles; and four grandchildren, Matthew Fondel, Amariah Rose Love and Aiden and Austin Smith.
