Robert Taylor was born on June 30, 1942, to Kilrain Taylor and Lucille Calligan in Lake Charles. When he was 5 years old, the family moved to Seattle, WA. After graduating from Garfield High School, he joined the military. While serving in the Army, he was a two-term Vietnam Veteran. He was baptized at an early age, and years later, he rededicated his life through baptism at the Starlight Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Julian K. Woods.
Robert was a nationwide truck driver for many years, working for various companies. Later in life, he volunteered as a driver for the VA. His last job was with CARC as a client driver until his health started to decline.
Robert liked reading and hanging out with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kilrain Taylor and Lucille Calligan, one brother, Larry Taylor, and five sisters: Jessie Joseph, Emma Lee Taylor, Ruby Taylor, Evelyn Taylor, and Shirley Foster.
Early Saturday morning, July 26th, Robert was called home to glory.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Leanie Margaret O'Brien Taylor, three sons, Donald Johnwell, Sr., Tommie Logan (Hazel), Larry Johnwell (Shayla), all of Lake Charles, LA; six grandchildren, Donald Johnwell, Jr., Kaci Johnwell, Tommie (Tanka) Logan Jr., Thaddeus (Tooney) Logan, Aneisia, and Zakaya Johnwell; four great-grandchildren, Aalayah Martin, Baylor McCluskey, Alexander, and Bryson Lapoint, all of Lake Charles, LA; two sisters, Zina Jordan, Seattle, WA, and Rosie Bea Taylor, Atlanta, GA; seven sisters-in-law, Theresa Taylor, Seattle, WA, Lillian Simon, Sally Smith, Arma McBride, Helen (Melvin) Jordan, Barbara (Wilford) Semien, and Cynthia Alexander; one brother-in-law, Michael O'Brien, Sr.; all of Lake Charles, LA. cousin Bessie Manfield, of Houston, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also, in memory of their pet, Roscoe.
