There's not a home in Galveston, TX/Lake Charles, La in which the sad news of to-day will not be received with the deepest and most heartfelt regret.

While across the waters and amongst the distant population in our vast community a similar feeling will be experienced. Mr. Ronald "Candy" Lewis, The retired Captain of the Lake Charles City Police Department died at twenty minutes after midnight on December 16, 2017 at Cornerstone Hospital. He was sixty five years old.

It is fortunate for the great when they can escape from themselves into some pursuit, which, by firing their ambition, gives a stimulus to their active powers. We rejoiced to see Captain Ronald "Candy" Lewis engaged in a cause which afforded such motives for exertions, and we anticipated from him many days of glory. But, it has been otherwise decreed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lewis of Groveton, Texas; and Dorthy Silliman of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his brother Byron "BJ" Lawson of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and his love one, his daughters' mother Rose Citizen of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Candy leaves to cherish his love and memories; two daughters, Tami Lewis of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Roni Lewis of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and one son, Beau (Tremaine) Richard Sr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Jhoby Lewis, Niyah Richard, Beau Richard Jr. and Brody Richard all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one brother, David Lewis; two sisters, Nedra Lewis and Michelle Lewis all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and a host of other relatives and friends.
