Obituary

"Forever In Our Hearts"

A flame that burns so brightly, leaving warmth within our hearts. A light that shines through darkness and unites us though were apart. The memories we carry with us, of laughter, love, and tears. Will keep the flame alive and strong, throughout the passing years. And in the quiet moments, when we feel the loss so deep. We'll know that in our hearts and minds, their legacy we'll keep.

"A Time to Be Born"

Steven Wade Jackson was born, to the late Winfield (Sr) and Selena Jackson in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was referred to as "Unc" because he was the uncle that would sit and have extended conversations with his nieces and nephews.

"A Time to Live"

"Uncle Steve" as he was affectionately called by his nieces and nephews, was baptized at an early age at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he sang in the Sunbeam Choir. He was a graduate of W. O. Boston High School and played the trombone in the marching band. Steven was debonair and was always well-dressed. He had a calm spirit and was highly respected among his family and friends. Steven decided after high school to enlist in the Army, something he was very proud of. He later studied and practiced Tae Kwon Do martial arts.

His love of music is reflected in his very diverse album collection of different artists and genres. His knack for fixing things led him to a lifelong career in construction. He learned concrete finishing and was a certified welder. He later offered Handyman Services in the Baytown area as a very skilled carpenter.

Upon his death, he resided in Baytown, Tx. Steven's love of food would often send aromas & scents throughout the family home on the weekends & holidays. He was the "top chef", known especially for his famous peanut butter cookies.

Uncle Steve was known for putting smiles on faces and creating memorable moments with his huge zest for life and never-ending hilarious stories.

"A Time to Cherish"

He was preceded in death by his parents Winfield (Sr) and Selena Jackson; siblings, Winfield Jackson, Jr. James Jackson, Beverly Jackson- Gause, and Keren Jackson-Mack.

Steven leaves to celebrate his life and memory, his son, Byron Jackson of Lake Charles, La. grandson, Elijah Jackson of Lake Charles, La., the love of his life Karen Motley of Baytown, Tx.; siblings, Barbara Jackson of Lake Charles, La., Aquina Jackson-Powell of Lafayette, and Eric Jackson (Doretha) of Lake Charles, La.; Kenny Guidry (adopted by the family); His oldest nephew and niece, Jeffery Muhammad and Winifred Jackson-Bell (Dannie) both of Dallas, Tx., who were always treated more like his younger siblings; as well as a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones. Each of whom had their own personal and very special relationship with him.
