IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Hyan
Gamble Jr.
May 9, 1943 – September 21, 2024
Willie Hyan Gamble, Jr, 76, was born May 9, 1943, in New Orleans, LA, to the parents of Willie H. Gamble, Sr., and Lillie Mae Collins. Willie went peacefully to Glory in his residence on Saturday, September 21, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
Willie attended Washington Jr/Sr High School under the principalship of Jessie D. Clifton and completed 8th grade.
Willie was married to Rose Marie Robertson Gamble for over 50 years. No children were born to this union. Willie and Rose lived prosperously in Lake Charles, LA. He enjoyed staying home, watching television, and sitting on the porch. Some shows he liked watching were boxing, anything Steve Harvey, and game shows. Some hobbies he loved were house painting and working outside. If a friend needed help, he made himself available. One of the things he often talked about was the many out-of-town trips he made with his best friend, Kenneth Mouton. They always had a good time laughing and joking. He enjoyed living life to the fullest. You could not miss putting a smile on Willie's face when it came to anything sweet. As much as he loved anything sweet, it did not compare to his sweetness for Rose, his wife.
The love of his life survives him, Rose Gamble of Lake Charles, LA; his sisters, Elizabeth Baker of Katy, TX; and Jean (Michael) Richard of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Andrew (Mary) Smith of Lake Charles, LA; stepchildren, Pastor Dr. Dianna Davis Zenon of Houston, TX, Deborah Davis (Clifton) McZeal of Lafayette, LA, Michael (Janice) Davis of Houston, TX, and Veronica 'Connie' Davis of Lake Charles, LA. He is also survived by a host of step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie H. Gamble, Sr. and Lillie Mae Collins Williams; brother, Maurice Smith; and brother-in-law, John Baker.
