Willie J. Fontenot, Jr., 82, of Lake Charles, peacefully passed away on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 at Forest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jonesboro, La. Willie was born May 2, 1938, to the late Willie J. Fontenot, Sr. and Lucille Johnson Fontenot in Mowata, La. He attended Ross High of Crowley, La. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years.

He was Owner/Operator of Carpet World for over 56 years, while working for Security Life Insurance as an agent over 40 years. He also worked many years alongside Fondel Funeral Home, in any capacity needed. He was affectionately known as "The Carpet Man" and "The Insurance Man." Willie was an avid card player, trail rider, and lover of horses. He was passionate about his dress attire and jewelry, but above all he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Austin Fontenot and daughter, Ashley Fontenot.

He leaves to cherish his memory five daughters, Gwendolyn (James) Lavine of Houston, TX, Charlotte Fontenot, Joselyn Fontenot, Diamond Fontenot, and Destiney Fontenot of Lake Charles, LA; two sons, Willie J. (Nikki) Fontenot, III and Devin Fontenot of Lake Charles, LA; one sister Gloria Edwards of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. Funeral service will be held for immediate family at Fondel Memorial Chapel. Pastor Keith Stevenson will officiate. Burial in Sacred Heart Mausoleum. In compliance with the current state COVID-19 order, the family respectfully requests all attendants to wear face masks and practice social distancing.
